Family Pastor

Penticton First Baptist Church, in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, is looking for a full time Family Pastor. Under the direction of the Lead Pastor, he/she will oversee and give leadership to our Children, Youth and Family ministries. We are looking for much more than a conventional children’s or youth pastor. Rather, this position is for a family pastor who will work with young families, children, and youth to develop community, discipleship, and spiritual formation for this section of our congregation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Re-imagining and leading ministry for children, youth, and young families
  • Building and leading a team of volunteers to grow and sustain family ministry
  • Support the Lead Pastor in growing and shaping our Sunday worship and ministry throughout the week
  • Getting behind the pulpit regularly, with support from the Lead Pastor
  • Organizing mid-week and evening events as needed, particularly youth/family events
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings, monthly board meetings, church business meetings, worship services, and the general life of First Baptist Church
  • Cultivate cross-generational relationships between all church members
  • This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and is supervised by the Lead Pastor

  • Loves young people and has confidence in God’s calling to this ministry
  • Have a Christ-centered, relational, and pastoral heart
  • Be a strong team player
  • Relate well to people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Be a self-starter with a developed work ethic and vision
  • Good with flamingos (FBC youth request)

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of/or in the process of completing a recognized theological degree (or further training in pastoral ministry)
  • Three to five years relevant experience
  • Willing and eligible to become a member of Penticton First Baptist Church
  • A criminal record check is mandatory and legally able to work in Canada
  • References will be requested

 

 Compensation will commensurate with education and experience
