What we Believe

First Baptist Church

Our purpose is to proclaim the Good News about Jesus Christ, be responsive to the needs of people through ministry that is biblical, practical and relevant and to reach out to our neighbours through ministries that share God’s love in practical ways.

We strive to honour all ages by providing a blended style of worship. Children remain in our service for praise time then ages 4 through grade 8 are welcomed into multi-aged groupings for further study of God’s Word.

First Baptist is affiliated with the CBWC (Canadian Baptist of Western Canada) denomination, a Christ-centred community of churches.  CBWC encompasses 156 churches in the four western provinces, the Yukon and the Northwest Territories and about 30 church plants. Around 100,000 people worship in more than 30 languages in churches large and small, rural and urban.

Through CBWC, First Baptist is affilicated with EFC (Evangelical Fellowship of Canada), a national association of evangelical Christians. Evangelicals gather together for impact, influence and identity in ministry and public witness. Since 1964 the EFC has provided a national forum for a constructive voice for biblical principles in life and society. EFC include denominations, ministry organizations, educational institutions and individual congregations, who uphold a common statement of faith.
